Dear Mr Lewis,

I cannot hope to express all my gratitude and appreciation for you through this one card, but I hope you can understand how much you mean to me and the impact you have had on my life. I once read a quote that said, “a good teacher is like a candle- it consumes itself to light the way for others”. After having you as my teacher over this past year, I have experienced this first-hand.

Your broad and deep understanding allows you to always answer my questions clearly and has inspired me to push myself to gain a greater understanding of all sciences. Your quick facts, witty humour and ability to radiate positivity have made the content so engaging and made every lesson something to look forward to.

As well as being a highly intelligent person, you have shown me how exceptional of a human being you are. The random deep insights into life, happiness and what to do in the future are lessons that I will hold close to my heart forever as I try to navigate my way through my life. Every single effort you dedicated towards me and the rest of our class will not be forgotten, and I hope the magnitude of these on all our lives is evident. Whatever your future holds, I am sure you will continue to change lives! All the best, I will miss you! 🙁

Thank you for all your help throughout this year. You went above and beyond your duty as a teacher to help me achieve my best, and I truly appreciate it.

From the first lessons I had with you in year 11 (where I vividly remember you throwing water across the bench and slamming lab coats onto the floor in chemistry), I immediately knew there was something different about the way you teach in comparison to all the other teachers. Now, two years later, my first thought was proven to be undoubtedly correct.

You’re an incredible teacher, and I really hope you see that. You have an exceptional ability to engage all your students in learning, as well as being a good person to speak to on a friendlier note. I honestly couldn’t have achieved what I have without your help!

The first thing I find most valuable however, is that not only did you help me achieve what I have academically, but you inspired me to want to do my best and never stop learning, thinking and understanding. You taught me to appreciate knowledge and inspired such a passion for science in me, and for that, I cannot thank you enough.

I think the following quote sums up what I’m trying to say quite well, “You can teach a student a lesson for a day, but if you can teach him to learn by creating curiosity, he will continue the learning process as long as he lives.”

Thank you so much for teaching us this year; you have made all of the concepts we’ve covered interesting and easily understandable, which has made all of us perform much better than we likely would have without you. Considering we only had a 25% chance of getting you this year, I’d say we’re all very lucky. All the best for the future.

Thank you so much for your guidance and support for chemistry this year! I have learned so much from you, and it has been an absolute pleasure to grow as not only a student but as a person. Your passion for chemistry is such a motivation for me to strive to do my best, and I love the way you always spread positivity wherever you go! Thank you for your enthusiasm and humour, it has made me laugh on several occasions! I will miss you very much, Mr Lewis, and I wish you all the best in your future endeavours!

Thank you so much for all you have done for me over the past two years! I can truly say you are the best teacher I have ever had and your passion and dedication is contagious. I have never enjoyed a subject as much as I have enjoyed chemistry and physics. You have taught me more than just content but advice and lessons I will take on for the rest of my life. I never thought I would miss high school, but I will not due to your amazing, entertaining and funny lessons. Thank you so much!

Thank you so much for your company these three years; it has been a great pleasure for me to be your student. I am not exaggerating to say that I fell in love with the subjects of physics and chemistry because of you. Your classes are always interesting and full of enthusiasm, which inspires me with passion and desire to explore physics and chemistry. Whenever I asked you a question, you always answered me very gently and patiently. You also encouraged me a lot which made me feel valued. Therefore I am very touched by your support and concern. Time goes by so fast; I really can’t bear to say goodbye. In my future study life, I will continue to work hard and make you proud. You are my favourite teacher, and I will always remember you!
