Physics tutoring designed for SACE
Stage 1 Physics
Year 11
Stage 1 Physics introduces you to the fundamental concepts, including motion, forces, electric circuits, heat, energy, momentum, waves, and nuclear energy. These concepts are introduced in the six topics, with equations and calculations introduced gradually throughout each. Studying these topics, you will develop your understanding of some of the fundamental principles and concepts of physics. Science inquiry skills and science as a human endeavour are interwoven through scientific knowledge.
In Stage 1 Physics, you will develop qualitative and quantitative models, laws, and theories to better understand matter, forces, energy, and their interactions. Physics seeks to explain natural phenomena, from the subatomic world to stars and galaxies.
- Topic 1: Linear motion & forces
- Topic 2: Electric circuits
- Topic 3: Heat
- Topic 4: Energy & momentum
- Topic 5: Waves
- Topic 6: Nuclear models & radioactivity
Stage 2 Physics
Year 12
Stage 2 Physics builds on the concepts introduced in Stage 1 Physics. Using an inquiry approach, you will extend your science inquiry skills and reinforce your understanding of science as a human endeavour. Science inquiry skills and science as a human endeavour are interwoven through the science understandings, which are organised into three topics.
- Topic 1: Motion & relativity
- Topic 2: Electricity & magnetism
- Topic 3: Light & atoms
Through year 11 and 12 I have been lucky enough to have Mr Lewis as both my chemistry and physics tutor. Not only has his amazing teaching abilities helped me achieve my best in school, but I have also developed a newfound appreciation for science. Every time I did not understand a concept or part of a lesson, Mr Lewis would explain it in a way or sometimes even in numerous ways until you could properly understand it. Mr. Lewis was also always there to provide clarification and guidance with any tasks or drafts I needed help with. His constant dedication in making each tutoring session personalised and uniquely tailored to my needs was both very helpful and inspiring.

Dear Mr Lewis,
Thank you so much for teaching us this year; you have made all of the concepts we’ve covered interesting and easily understandable, which has made all of us perform much better than we likely would have without you. Considering we only had a 25% chance of getting you this year, I’d say we’re all very lucky. All the best for the future.
